Day One-5.31.2011

Dukan Diet Day One-May 31, 2011

Today I started the Dukan Diet.  You probably already know this is the diet that was made famous by Kate before she became a member of the Royal Family.  I just want it to work.  I've really only tried one other "official" diet, the Pritikin Diet, and once I lost a little weight I got pregnant with my son.  He's now 18 and will be off to college in the fall.  I'm long past the time when I should have lost the baby weight.  We just returned from a vacation, so I probably am starting out slightly heavier than my "normal" heavy weight.  Starting the diet this am, I weighed 210 pounds.

But, better late than never.  So today I started the Attack Phase.  The Diet has 4 phases:  2 which are supposed to help you lose the weight and 2 for maintaining your newly skinny self after completing the first two phases.

The Attack Phase consists of eating protein, with small amounts of carbohydrates from oat bran and those found in primarily protein based foods such as non-fat Greek yogurt.

Today I scrambled 2 eggs for breakfast and had iced unsweetened tea.  Lunch was more difficult because I did not have time to make my own lunch this am and had to go out.  I found a fish restaurant, McGrath's Fish House, near the mall and had a seared Ahi Tuna appetizer and more iced tea.  I left the daikon garnish/salad and also the wasabi cream garnish on the plate and ate only the 8 medallions of spice crusted Ahi.  In the middle of the afternoon I had a single service size of Fage Greek 0% Yogurt and for dinner I had 8-10 ounces of baked cod and another Fage 0% yogurt.

I'm not starving, but I am a little constipated already.   But, I've already also had a little weight loss-likely just water weight but I'm at 206.5 before bed.  Mostly, I'm tired.  My husband has a virus and we're both tired out from vacation.  So, Day One is done.  Good night all.
